Who I am
My first love was writing. I grew up on a small farm in California and spent most of my time reading stories and writing my own. After high school, I left home to study Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania. After I graduated, I moved to Texas as a member of Teach for America to teach art. Here, I illustrated and published my first children’s book, Big and Small.
I returned to the East Coast in 2022 for my MS in Education from Johns Hopkins. In 2023, I finally pursued my goal of learning to tattoo, and I have loved it ever since. In 2024, I also began studying at the Maryland Institute College of Art to achieve my MFA in studio art. I now live in Richmond, VA, with my dog, Juno, where I teach, write, make art, and tattoo.
I have a passion for learning, seeing, and celebrating existence and all the beautiful things that are a part of this life. My art is a means by which I can connect with others through iteration and representation of common human emotions. Whether it be a poem, a painting, or a tattoo, my goal is to make all audiences feel seen, heard, and, most importantly, beautifully human.
